Twelfth Batch of Young Leaders Surprised by the NCA Leadership Journey

The Ninoy & Cory Aquino Foundation (NCAF), in partnership with the University Student Council of the De La Salle University – Dasmariñas (DLSU-D), welcomed the twelfth batch of young Filipino leaders into the Ninoy & Cory Aquino Leadership Journey Community.

This year’s partnership with DLSU-D has been successful as twenty-seven (27) young individuals from the CALABARZON Region participated in the twelfth run of the Ninoy & Cory Aquino Leadership Journey held last April 25-27, 2014 in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

“We are happy to bring the program once more to the youth leaders of CALABARZON,” expresses Rafael C. Lopa, NCAF President and Executive Director. “With this twelfth batch, we now have 331 Journey Companions across the country committed to leadership and service as exemplified by Sen. Ninoy and Pres. Cory”.

The Ninoy & Cory Aquino Leadership Journey (NCALJ), one of the more transformative youth programs in the country, is a partnership among the Ninoy & Cory Aquino Center for Leadership (NCACL), the Ninoy & Cory Aquino Foundation (NCAF), the Ang-Hortaleza Foundation, White Knight Hotel Intramuros, and Cebu Pacific Air.

Mr. Lopa further adds, “We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to the De La Salle University – Dasmariñas, University Student Council, headed by Ms. Jem Mamayson, for entrusting the Foundation once again and making this Leadership Journey possible for the 27 youth leaders of CALABARZON”.

Using Ninoy and Cory Aquino as inspirations, the program reintroduces spirituality as a major foundation for Filipino leadership. Harnessing their innate value systems, the participants take part in a process of self-reflection that will ultimately lead to self-transformation and self-commitment for others and the country.

“This Leadership Journey differs from any other leadership trainings that I have attended”, shares Rigo John Y. Teoxon from the Lyceum of the Philippines University – Batangas, one of the twenty-seven Companions from Batch 12. Teoxon adds, “It is a once in a lifetime opportunity where I got to know myself better, to appreciate everything and everyone around me, and most especially, I got to feel the presence and love of God in my life”.

I learned how to accept my weaknesses and to understand the things happening to my life. I know that my journey does not end in those three days, instead, it is just a beginning of the real challenge of service)”.
