The Ninoy & Cory Aquino Foundation (NCAF) and Ninoy & Cory Aquino Center for Leadership (NCACL) call for applications from Region IV-A (CALABARZON) Youth Leaders to join the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Leadership Journey (Batch 12) on April 25-27, 2014.

CALABARZON has played an important role in Philippine history as many of our national heroes have their roots here”, shares Journey Companion Andel Reyes. “Conducting the NCA Leadership Journey in our region will shape a new generation of promising young heroes, who, as Jose Rizal said, are the ‘pag-asa ng  bayan’”, she continues. A Communication Graduate of De La Salle – Lipa and an active public servant in her community back in college, Andel joined the first batch of the Leadership Journey in November 2010 and even after almost four years, she keeps on going back to the Journey Community. Aside from treasured friends found in the program, it reminds her constantly of the purpose of her leadership — serving the Lord.

For the second time, NCAF and NCACL have again forged a partnership with the De La Salle University – Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) in bringing the youth leadership program to the South. NCAF President and Executive Director Rafael C. Lopa expresses his deepest gratitude for this partnership, This is a great way to celebrate our 4th year of implementing the program.”  He further adds, “We are truly grateful to De La Salle – Dasmariñas for trusting us again to do this for the youth of CALABARZON”.

With the second run in Region IV-A, Mr. Lopa hopes that more young people from Southern Luzon are ready to respond to the call of service and love.

Through the Leadership Journey Program, “I was able to experience the power of Love”, Andel imparts. She invites her fellow young leaders in CALABARZON to join the NCA Leadership Journey, “This is the best gift that you could offer yourself as a student leader. Be one of us in this life-changing journey”.

Using Ninoy and Cory Aquino as role models, the program seeks to reintroduce spirituality as a major foundation for Filipino leadership. Harnessing their innate values systems, the participants take part in a process of self-reflection that will ultimately lead to self-transformation and self-commitment for others and country.

Together with program partners, Cebu Pacific Air and White Knight Hotel Intramuros, the program invites the youth leaders to undergo a 3-day transformative experience and be living witnesses of leadership.  It is the hope of the Foundation that the young persons will be moved to commit to a life of service and mission through effective and impactful community work. The objectives of the program are:

  • To reintroduce models of leadership based from the lives of Ninoy and Cory Aquino
  • To realize that spirituality, faith and love are values that anchor one’s life
  • To build communal experiences in spirituality with other youth leaders
  • To respond to a life of love through the call for action
  • To appreciate a life of sacrifice that is deeply rooted in one’s faith

The Ninoy and Cory Aquino Leadership Journey is open to all Filipino citizens residing in Region IV-A, 18 – 21 yrs. old, and at least a college sophomore (or the equivalent) at the time of the application period.
