In commemoration of Pres. Corazon C. Aquino’s 4th death anniversary, the Ninoy & Cory Aquino Foundation (NCAF) held a prayer-concert featuring songs from My Journey Goes On, Songs and Reflections from the Ninoy & Cory Aquino Leadership Journey at the Aquino Center & Museum last Saturday, August 3, 2013. The ensemble also featured “Where’s the Sheep?”, a praise group under Vicor Music.
“Commemorating Pres. Aquino’s fourth death anniversary here where she grew up is a privilege,” shared Mr. Rafael C. Lopa, President & Executive Director of NCAF. “She would’ve been very happy to see so many young people celebrating their faith through music.”
Mr. Lopa welcomed the prayer-concert’s attendees, while reflection points were given by Jesha Villasis of NCAF, Where’s the Sheep? vocalist Michael Shimamoto, and Journey Companion Joy Critica (Batch 1).
Mrs. Myrna Urquico who attended the prayer-concert shared, “After hearing the Pope challenge the youth at the recently concluded World Youth Day to be missionaries in the world, how happy I felt and how good to know that there are young people doing this.”
“My heart leaped when everyone stood up and joined the NCAF Music Ministry and Where’s the Sheep? sing, sway and dance to the songs,” said Ms. Karen Lacsamana-Carrera, Manager of the Aquino Center & Museum, who attended the prayer-concert. “At the end, I felt more proud to be a member of this community, a Tarlaquena, and most especially a Filipino.”
My Journey Goes On is produced by NCAF President and Executive Director Mr. Rafael C. Lopa and NCAF Board of Trustee Fr. Manoling Francisco, SJ, the popular Jesuit composer, and arranged by Mr. John Paulo Reyes of the Bukas Palad Music Ministry. The album features the NCAF Music Ministry and some Journey companions who are graduate of the .
The songs and reflections points, both featured prominently during the Ninoy & Cory Aquino Leadership Journey, the core youth formation program of the Foundation, are arranged around sound bites from speeches of former Sen. Ninoy and Pres. Cory Aquino themselves on their experiences as leaders.
