The Ninoy & Cory Aquino Foundation (NCAF) invites the public to the album launch of My Journey Goes On ( Songs and Reflections from the Ninoy & Cory Aquino Leadership Journey) on November 30, 2012, 1:30 pm at Xavier School, San Juan.
As part of the mission to perpetuate the legacy of Senator Benigno S. Aquino, Jr. and President Corazon C. Aquino, NCAF has partnered with the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Center for Leadership to mount a youth formation program, anchored on transformation and commitment.
Called the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Leadership Journey (NCALJ), the program was launched in November 2010 and has since engaged 195 student-leaders from seven batches nationwide. The Journey invites the youth to undergo a transformative experience and be living witnesses of leadership. The hope is for the young person to commit to a life of service and mission through effective and impactful community work. Moving forward, the program plans to engage more young people and to cultivate a community of leaders.
“It has been heartening to see our graduates grow as human beings and as young leaders,” shared NCAF President and Executive Director Rafael C. Lopa. “They have embraced the spirit of the program as a continuing Journey. That is why we’ve created avenues for them to keep coming back to reconnect with themselves and the community. We are producing this album as an aid, each time our graduates—or people in general—want to pause for reflection in the middle of their busy lives.”
My Journey Goes On aims to capture the experience of the program as an aid to spurring introspection among NCALJ graduates. Since the songs have been germane to the Journey experience, listening to them anew will help rekindle and evoke deep and intense feelings that can move them into more profound relationships with God and with people and communities in need of enlightened leadership.
“The album contains ten moving tracks together with reflection points for everyone to use for his or her own personal journey in search of meaning and fulfillment in life,” Mr. Lopa said.
My Journey Goes On is produced by Mr. Lopa and NCAF Board of Trustee Fr. Manoling Francisco, SJ, the popular Jesuit composer, and arranged by John Paulo Reyes of the Bukas Palad Ministry. The album features young artists led by Where’s the Sheep Vocalist Michael Shimamoto, as well as some Journey graduates.
The album launch is on November 30, 2012, 1:30 at the Multi-Purpose Center of Xavier School, San Juan. It is also a fund-raising prayer concert for the program, where testimonies from the organizers and participants will be shared. With a donation of P250, one gets a copy of the album for oneself or as an apt Christmas gift for family and friends
The launch is also a pre-advent recollection where Fr. Francisco, SJ will direct and give reflection points. There will be Holy Mass right after the launch.
